Shirley E. Norman, age 91, passed away at Arbor Trail Rehab Center in Inverness, FL on July 8, 2026. Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Earl E. and Nell VerHage Clay.
Shirley married her late husband, Budd L. Norman on May 26, 1956. She came to Citrus County from Michigan in 2004. Shirley and her husband served as Missionaries with Continental Baptist Missions for over 30 years. She assisted with the physical construction of church buildings for the Mission. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Citrus Springs and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting (lace making) and reading.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her sons, Steven, Ricky and Jeff Norman; sisters Patsy and Joan, and great granddaughter, Sadie.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Lester (Tammy) Norman of Hudsonville, Michigan; her grandchildren: Michael and wife Jane, Michelle, Jason, Sophia, and Gabriella; great grandchildren: Micah, Jaxon and Rylee.
Funeral Services for Shirley will be held on Sunday, July 12th, 2026, 3:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church in Citrus Springs with The Rev. Pete Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery beside her husband at a later date. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 2:00 PM until the hour of service.
