Mary Lou Raby

Mary Lou Raby, age 83, of Inverness, died with family and friends by her side on June 26, 2026 in Inverness.  Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Anthony and Agnes Amelia (Beckman) Schotter.

Mary Lou and her husband, Clarence, came to Citrus County from Ft. Myers, FL almost 40 years ago.  As a registered nurse, Mary Lou worked at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, worked for the Citrus County Health Department and her most favorite job was being the nurse for Good Counsel Camp while Clarence was the caretaker of the camp.

Mary Lou was very active in the church and when she was younger very active in the youth group. Mary Lou adored her family; especially her grandchildren. She loved watching them grow up and playing sports. Her favorite animal and saying was F.R.O.G. which stands for Fully Rely On God. She also loved gardening, spending time with friends and family, and hunting.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence who died in 2021. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Christopher Alan (Yarelys) Raby of Inverness and Clarence Wayne (Tina) Raby, III in Missouri; 8 adored grandchildren: CJ and Gabby of Inverness and Chance, Trent, Logan, Katrina, Tarra, and Hope of Missouri; and her sister JoAnn Green of Michigan.

The Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday, July 11th, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father James Johnson officiating.  (A gathering with food and fellowship will be announced following the conclusion of the mass.) In honor of Mary Lou, please feel free to wear something in her favorite color, Red. The family will receive visitors at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home on Friday evening, July 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, with a prayer service about 7:00. Mary Lou will be laid to rest with her husband Clarence at Florida National Cemetery on Monday, July 13th at 10:30 AM.

    Aunt Mary Lou was a bright, beautiful and caring woman of God. My memories of her a filled with laughter and warmth. She did F.R.O.G! May she rest in peace, and you all and your families find comfort knowing she is without pain and with the Lord.
