Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On
Kathy O. Renfro

Kathy O. Renfro

Kathy O. Renfro, age 67, of Inverness, Florida, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 23, 2026, at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born on September 27, 1958, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to the late Cress and Alta Ozment. In 1987, she moved to Citrus County from Clearwater, Florida, where she made her home and built a life centered on faith, family, and love.

At the age of 28, Kathy was widowed and left to raise two small children. Through every hardship, she worked tirelessly to ensure her children always knew they were deeply loved and cherished above all else. Kathy had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen and valued. She was kind to everyone she met and had a way of making each person feel like the most important one in the room. Her radiant smile could light up any space she entered. She loved to dance, and some of her happiest moments were spent listening to her beloved Gil play the piano.

Kathy leaves behind many who will cherish her memory: her loving companion of 37 years, Lynn “Gil” Gilkey of Inverness; her daughter, April Renfro and husband Ryan Curry of Inverness; her son, Lawrence Wade Renfro II and wife Regina of Pace, Florida; her brother, Mark Ozment of Lenox, Tennessee; and her five beloved grandchildren, Presley and Gracelyn Curry of Inverness, and Annabelle, Trey, and Amelia Renfro of Pace.

She is also survived by her lifelong childhood friends, Katherine McDaniel of Huntingdon, Tennessee, and Sandy Tharpe of Trimble, Tennessee; her local extended family, Larry, Jennifer, BJ, and Patty Shipman; and numerous dear friends across the world who will miss her deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday July 2, 2026, at 3:00pm at Chas. E. Davis. Funeral Home and Crematory. Family and friends will gather to share memories of Kathy, and a spiritual message will be given by Pastor Jon Powers of Grace Pointe Hernando. Arrangements are in the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.

Kathy wasn’t just my client, she was my dear friend. I enjoyed our conversations about our families. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was so happy when she spoke of them, showing me any new pictures she had. She also loved talking about her lunch/dinner outings with Gil. I would always refer to Kathy as my little southern belle. Her love for her family and friends should be an inspiration for all of us. She will hold a special place in my heart always. May you rest in peace my dear friend 💕
