On June 8, 2026, Mary “Mare” (Siminski) Dean shook off the mortal coils of earth and traded them for a new and better life of heavenly peace.
Born in Utica, New York, on 11 July 1953, Mary attended St. Joseph-St. Patrick’s Parochial School through the eighth grade. She then attended Utica Catholic Academy until graduation in 1971.
Following in her older brother’s footsteps, Mary enlisted in the United States Air Force. After her tour of duty, Mary enlisted in the New York Army National Guard, where she eventually became a recruiter. One of her first recruits was the same older brother she had followed into the Air Force.
Mary left the service after a successful fight with Cancer, as she could no longer meet the physical demands of the army.
In the 1990s, Mary moved to Florida to be near her dad. She entered the medical field, specifically elder care and in a nursing home environment. During this time, she met the love of her life, Ursula Todd. They worked together for many years and retired on the same day. Mary and Ursula enjoyed the Florida sunshine, the manatees of Crystal River, and Homosassa Springs, and especially their dogs, who they loved immensely.
Mary was predeceased by her niece, Terra Siminski, and her parents, Roman Siminski and Rosemary Methe. In addition to Ursula, she is survived by her brother Robert Siminski and his spouse Lee Ann, brother Raymond Siminski and his partner Terry McDaniel, nephew Matthew Siminski, and great nephew Achilles Siminski and her stepmother, Carol Frame Harrington. She also leaves to remember her Ursula’s children, Christine Whited, Claudia Culp, and Richard Todd, along with Ursula’s sisters, Petra Gwosdek, Heidi Rupert, and their families.
Mary was struck by illness without warning and fought a valiant battle against formidable odds. A true warrior to the end. She will be missed.
Our thanks to the doctors and nurses of Tampa General Hospital in Crystal River, Florida. Arrangements for cremation will be handled by Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will be at a later date.

My dear Sister-in-law Mary, you were also a good friend. I’m sorry we didn’t see each other more often, but I will always remember the times we had together. I only wish I’d known you longer. You and Ursula coming to see us were some of the best times of my life.
Rest easy, lady. We all love and miss you so much. 💔❤️🙏
Missing you, dear sister. Sorry about what you suffered. No more pain where you are now. It’s beautiful in the kingdom. Will see you soon. We’ll go for a bike ride around the neighborhood like we used to. Maybe go sledding when winter comes and the white snow will remind us of those yesterdays long ago.
Condolences on your sister’s passing.
