November 28, 1938 – May 13, 2026
MaryAnn Quinn Williams was born on November 28, 1938 in Levy County, Florida to Wilbur and Dora Thompson, the first of three daughters. She graduated from South Sumter High School in Bushnell. MaryAnn and her friend took turns driving from Bushnell to Inverness when she started working in Inverness. MaryAnn fell in love with Inverness and spent most of her life living in Inverness. Her first job was working for Willard Bowsky in his surveying business. She married Sheriff B.R. Quinn in 1966. It was an exciting life being married to the county sheriff! MaryAnn had quite a life of her own working in government service. She worked as an Aide to Representative Dick Locke in the Historic Courthouse in Inverness. After Dick Locke lost his election, MaryAnn secured a position working as an Aide with Representative George Albright in Ocala. She was then hired by the Florida Legislature and moved to Tallahassee. While she enjoyed working in the government, she yearned to come home to her beloved Inverness. In 1997 she returned home to Inverness to work as the Chief Deputy in the Supervisor of Elections Office with newly elected Supervisor Susan Gill until her retirement in 2005. They remained dear friends. On February 14, 2000 she married Homosassa native D.F. “Tommy” Williams. They were married 24 years until his death August 14, 2024. Tommy and his extended family brought her great joy.
MaryAnn was very social and loved travelling and being on the go all the time. She especially enjoyed being around children although she had no children of her own. She was always fashionably dressed and loved clothes and jewelry. MaryAnn was known for her generosity to her family and friends. She was always thinking of loved ones in her life.
MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Williams, her parents Wilbur and Dora Thompson, her sister Carolyn, and her husband B.R. Quinn.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved “little sister” Rodglyn Leathers (Randy), her nephew Ryan Rowland (Alison), and their children Kyla, Madison, Easton and Fallon, her nephew Robert Bruce Caldwell (Doris) and his children Bridger and Tylen, who she was like a Mimi to, and her dear friends Sandra “Sam” and Dennis Himmel and family, Susan Gill, Patti Ferrick, Barbara Melanson, and April Rose.
Services will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2:00 PM, at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, 3075 S. Florida Avenue, Inverness, Florida. Pastor Darrell Reneau will officiate.
