Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On
Cherie Jene Logue

Cherie Jene Logue

Cherie Jene Logue, lovingly known as “Gram” to everyone who met her, passed away peacefully at her home in Lecanto, surrounded by her devoted family and under the care of VITAS Hospice on May 6, 2026 She was 89.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Evelyn (Duncan) Holland. In her younger years, Cherie was active and competitive—she played and coached softball, was a barrel racer, and grew up in a family involved in the greyhound racing business, which gave her the opportunity to travel throughout the United States. As a young woman, Cherie moved to Miami, where she met the love of her life, Joe Logue, an active Marine stationed there. They married on April 28, 1957, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned nearly seven decades. In 1973, she and Joe made Citrus County their home.

Gram was a woman who found joy in the simple things—working in her garden, spending time outdoors, and being surrounded by family. She was known for her strong spirit, her deep love for her people, and the way she made everyone feel like they belonged. She drove a school bus for many years and truly loved being part of the community. If you knew Gram, you knew exactly where you stood—and you knew you were loved.

A devoted sports fan, Gram cheered faithfully for her beloved Chicago Cubs and the Tampa Bay Rays, but her favorite games were always the ones her grandchildren played. She rarely missed an opportunity to support them and was their biggest fan. She also didn’t miss an opportunity to offshore fish in the Florida Keys. Catching mahi mahi was her favorite, and no matter how rough it was, she was all in.

A woman of faith, Gram was a dedicated member of Riverside Christian Fellowship in Hernando.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Calvin Holland; her sister, Cynthia McClain; and her great-grandbaby, Jack Spear.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 69 years, Joe E. Logue of Lecanto; her four children, Jimmy E. Logue of Ft. Lauderdale, Matt E. (Diana) Logue of Hernando, Peggy Logue (Leon) Boyajan of Lecanto, Lori Logue Anderson (Chuck Smith) of Cookeville, TN; bonus children, Jeffrey Neal (Marisol) Alvarez and Helen Mann (Lucky) Davis; her sister, Cathy (Dale) Petroski of Carrabelle, FL; cousin, John “Roger” Bethel of Lecanto, FL; grandchildren, Alexis Kidd Wilkins, David Logue, Joseph (wife Jamie) Kidd, Renee (husband Brian) Boyajan, Christina (husband Josh) Spear, Kevin Logue, Brett Logue, Louis Logue, Ryan Logue, Shelby Anderson, Conner Smith; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin Spear, David Logue Jr, Caden Logue, Braden Kidd, Zoe Kidd, Jonas Gerstenblith, Abraham Spear, Stella Gerstenblith, and Thea Spear.

Gram was the heart of her family and took her role as matriarch seriously, loving and guiding each generation in her own strong and steadfast way.

A Celebration of Gram’s Life will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Davis Funeral Home chapel, with the family receiving friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Pastor J.D. Hatfield will officiate. Reception immediately following at Riverside Christian Fellowship, 7771 N Carl G Rose Hwy, Hernando.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Lecanto High School Baseball (3810 W Educational Path, Lecanto FL, 34461).

Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.

I thought I already did this but have never been that computer savvy. Anyway, I came into this family when I married Bob (Bushman) Bush in 1981. He and Joe and Cherie go so far back and I was welcomed with open arms. I treasure our closeness and will miss Cherie forever. What a loving heart. And after losing Bob they have especially looked out for me and our children. I don’t take it for granted and just say “thank you”. Love, Mutt, as Cherie called me.
