Kenneth L. Berry, Jr. died under the care of Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, FL on February 10, 2026. He was 72 years old. Ken was born in Orlando, FL on July 11, 1953, to Kenneth L. Berry Sr. and Nancy (Williams) Berry.

He grew up as an active member of First Baptist Church Orlando and coached their softball and basketball teams. After attending college at what is now UCF in Orlando, he secured a teaching position in Inverness, FL at Citrus High School.

In 1980, he married Cindy Cox, also of Orlando. Their family grew with children Christine and Rob. Over his 35 years at Citrus High, Ken taught a variety of subjects including Physical Science, PE, Weightlifting, and Health. For many of those years, he coached JV Football, Varsity Football, and Girls Softball.

“Coach Berry” had a routine of lunch and parking lot duties, football practice, Friday night games, and Saturdays watching college football. He was a member of First Baptist, and then Cornerstone churches. In retirement, Ken often reflected on his coaching days. His undefeated JV football season was a proud accomplishment.

Ken is survived by his wife Cindy, son Rob, daughter Christine (husband Drew), brother Dana (wife Karen), sister Angela (husband David), and grandchildren Sadie, Elisabeth and Alexandra. Services were held privately with the caring assistance of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.

A great man and he will be missed. Coach Berry took a chance and gave me an opportunity to assist him as a graduate coach at CHS. One of then calmest, and smartest, coaches I have ever worked with. Sending prayers for him and his Family.

Kenny was a dear friend to Karen and me as youth. His patience and dedication to coaching was profound. Kenny coached Karen and her two older sisters in softball.. Her sisters were more natural athletesI, but he “coached her up” to her maximum skills. loved our times together on the softball field. He was not the most athletic so he knew his limitations and studied how he could be the most effective on the field. He always offered a positive word in the midst of failed performance. Many happy memories flood my mind.

Mr Berry was one of my many mentors at Citrus High School. He tried with no success to get me to play linebacker for the JV team. He was always supportive and good for a joke. RIP Mr. Berry. You will be missed.
