Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On
Glenda (Susie) Davis

Glenda (Susie) Davis

Glenda (Susie) Davis, formerly of Huntersville, NC, passed away peacefully under Vitas Hospice care in Lecanto, FL, near her home in Hernando. She was 74 years of age. Susie was born in Johnson City, TN to Oscar and Hazel (Trivette) Laws. She ended up marrying a boy she met in high school, Richard Davis, and they married in 1975. Susie worked as a school teacher, teaching middle school kids the basics of life management skills; however it was never just a job to her. She absolutely loved those kids and loved what she did, and they loved her just as much in return. Susie was such a selfless individual, and she had such a strong faith in Christianity that she led non-believers to the Lord up until the very end. She had such internal peace and joy, thanking her Lord Jesus for her salvation until her last breath.  She loved doing things for others, especially cooking and baking. Susie also loved her water aerobics, singing, elephants, and her family…especially the family pup “Bandit.” Susie and Bandit were an inseparable pair. Susie and Rick moved to Hernando in early 2025 to live in a warmer climate. Susie was preceded in death by her brother Hall Laws and her grandson TJ Davis. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Rick Davis of Hernando; her daughter Shannon Davis Sutton of Huntersville, NC; her sons Douglas Davis of Hernando, Timothy Davis (Jess) of Appleton, ME, and Carsten Davis (Courtney) of Beaver Dam, WI; her sister Bitsie Collins (Al); her brother Charlie Laws (Irene); her sisters-in-laws Frances Laws and Jackie Bridges (Jim); and grandchildren Jonathan, Zoe, Natalia, and Olivia Davis, Corey, Coen, Caia, and Carlie Sutton, and April, Freya, and Axle Davis.

Services will be held in mid-February at Heaton Christian Church in North Carolina. Private cremation under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory, Inverness, FL.

Jesus, You are the satisfaction for every deep longing in my heart.
When I’m hungry for quick fixes or starving for affection or
craving lesser things, Jesus You are my Bread of life.
When I’m confused and anxious and exhausted from all my fragile efforts
incapable of fixing my struggles, Your light brings clarity. Your light chases
away my darkness. Your light of hope dispels the shadows of hurt.
You are the Good Shepherd who will find me no matter how lost
or off course I wander. You speak tenderly my name and whisper wisdom I need.
And then You encamp at the gate of my heart. You are the Sheep Gate,
always there during my coming and going, protecting and providing for me.
When I get afraid of the daunting things that feel impossibly dead
to me I will not be consumed with anguish or grief.
Jesus, You are my Resurrection and my Life.
You are the Way when there is no way. You are the Truth
in my life that silences the lies that scream in deafening tones.
You are Life, certain and secure.
You are the true Vine I cling to and receive from all that’s
needed to not just survive but to thrive. What I am facing today may be a delay
or a distraction or even a devastation for a season but it is not a final destination.
For you, the Great I AM, will have the final say.
You will write the final words to my story. And because they come from
You—the source of all that is good and right and true—the words of my life will be glorious.
This was never about finding my answer.
This was about finding You, the Great I AM.

I loved Susie like a sister. We spent many wonderful days and nights together with me at the piano accompanying her beautiful singing voice. She attended our Father’s funeral and brought comfort to us on our time of need. I’ll. Never forget her.

Mrs. Davis was always such a kind and generous woman of God. She and Mr. Davis were always ready to lend a hand to anyone, regardless. She will be missed. Sue is now whole and free, worshipping our Savior.

Susie had a gift for caring for people—whether in the classroom, at home, or through simple everyday moments. Susie lived with steady kindness, deep love for her family, and a sincere faith that shaped everyone around her. She will be missed more than words. My continued prayers over the family that I love and appreciate greatly.
