David R. Lacy of Inverness, Fla. passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, August 16th 2025. He was 78. Dave was born in Daytona Beach, Florida to Winford and Marjorie Lacy. Dave was married to the love of his life Bettie for 50 years but were together well before then. Dave retired from Citrus County Fleet management in Lecanto, Fla. Dave loved fishing, hunting, camping, garage sales and doing blue grass festivals with his wife. Dave was a devoted husband, father & grandfather. Anyone who knew him would say what a good, kind, and hard working man he was. He was a man of many talents and could fix anything and loved to tinker in his garage and he loved being outdoors. Dave was preceded in death by his wife Bettie, brothers Dan and Bobby Lacy, sister Florence Jacobs, sons Ralph Johnson and Mike Watson, and grandson Zach Lacy. Those left to cherish his memory are sons Hank Lacy (Lisa) of New Hampshire and Jerry Watson (Becky) of Inverness; daughter Glenda Pierson (Bill) of New Smyrna Beach and daughter-in-law Pam Watson of Kentucky. He has 28 grandchildren, including great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and also his wonderful sisters-in-law. Dave loved God and was a humble and thankful man. Those who would like to, may make memorial donations to the Zach Lacy Scholarship Fund, Merrimack Valley High School 106 Village Street, Penacook, NH 03303. This is in memory of his grandson who passed away tragically too soon, and it would be made in his honor for two students from Zach’s high school who are awarded a scholarship every year from the Lacy family. Private arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.

We are so sorry for your loss and loved your pops like he was part of our family 💔 May knowing that he and Bettie are together again brings some peace to your hearts.
He took me in as if I was his own. He made a wonderful father-in-law and will be greatly missed.
Uncle Dave, I remember those days when I was a young teenager and you took the time to talk to me and listen to what I had to say. . I recall a fishing trip in the Tomoka River in which you placed me right where the fish were. And you let me make cast after cast, before you even put a line in the water. And even then you outfished me! You were kind and wonderful uncle and we will all miss you.
