John Ross Competiello, 80, Inverness, FL, passed on July 10, 2025. Born January 17, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, John was a devout Christian and was married to his loving wife Barbara for 51 years.
John is survived by Barbara (nee Johnson), 77, and his loving daughter Marjorie-lee, 46. He’s predeceased by his parents Ruby and John and his brother Michael who died in infancy.
John was a loving husband and father who was kind and compassionate. His heritage was Sicilian and Highlander Scot. He was known for his wicked sense of humour and a love of Classical music. He cared deeply for his family and those he served in the death care industry since he was 17.
He was Chairman of Trustees at 1st United Methodist Church in Pinellas Park and helped raise $1 million dollars for expansion. He also served 10 years in Pinellas Park as Chairman of the Citizens Budget Committee. He was President of Kiwanis of Pinellas Park and a very active member therein.
Graveside services are Tuesday, July 15th at 3:00 PM from Hills of Rest Cemetery with Pastor Tom Beaverson officiating. The family thanks the nurses and staff at Arbor Trail Nursing Home in Inverness for their compassionate care in taking care of John. He passed peacefully in his sleep.

Just read about John’s passing. He was one of my favorite clients and it was always a pleasure working with him. I know our paths will cross again.
