Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Judith Anette Green Embling

Judith Anette Embling (Green) died at HPH Hospice in Lecanto, FL on May 5, 2025. She was born January 2, 1940 in Churchville, NY to Edna (Clarke) and Daryl Green.

During a long career as an educator, Judy touched the hearts of generations of third graders at Otego Elementary School in Otego, New York. She met her husband, Ron in 1957 and they were inseparable for sixty-six years. In all that time, they never spent more than a few days apart. They traveled the world, raised three sons, and once had a food fight at the dinner table with a bowl of lime jello.

She was a Fullbright Scholar, a lover of knowledge in all its forms, a renowned cook, and a glamazon who was never seen without her lipstick. She traveled to nine countries and nearly every state.

A passionate joiner, Judy was a treasured member of the church choir, multiple social organizations and the Otego Presbyterian Church and then the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. Judy was a devout Christian. She once described her faith as “If you love Me, feed My sheep.” Her Christianity was about justice, mercy and love for others. She was active in progressive politics and considered advocating for others part of her moral duty as a Christian.

She leaves the lives of those she touched better and more beautiful than she found them, and sprinkled good will recklessly in her wake, working to make sure she never left anyone worse off than she found them. Her kindness, optimism and ability to see the best in everyone inspired and touched those around her. And her wry sense of humor has left her family and friends with many anecdotes about her quips.

Judy is survived by three sons; Donald (Cherie), David, and Bob; three grandchildren Lauren, Cassie (Dustin) and Robert; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Rosie.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Adoptaclassroom.org would be welcome.
