Brenda Jean Powell (Lightfoot), of Bushnell, Florida, passed away April 23, 2025, at the Cornerstone
Casa Bella House in The Villages, Florida, after losing her battle with cancer. She was born September
4, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Laura Jean Powell (Bornstein) and the late John William
Powell.
Brenda attended Citrus High School and received her Cosmetology Certificate from Withlacoochee
Technical College, also attending TENJA salon institute before moving on to her many work ventures.
Brenda worked as a hair stylist, working at Steeds barber shop in floral city before becoming employed
for many years at Smart Style in the Wal-Mart in Bushnell, and then later at YaiYai Hair Salon in Crystal
River, and at Great Clips in Hernando, before starting her own barber shop, Crossroads Cuts, in
Trilacoochee.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Brook Chyan Lindberg; granddaughter Natalie Rider; sister,
Joyce Sizemore; three brothers, David Powell, Steven Bornhorst, Randy Bornhorst; nephew, Ralph
Stamps; and niece Tina Stamps.
A celebration of life will be held at Charles Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL on Saturday, May 17, at
11:00am. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior.
