Frank Milcomb Ownbey, Sr. died on April 15, 2025 at Life Care Center of Citrus County in Lecanto. He was 89 years old. One of thirteen children born in St. Petersburg, FL, Frank was the son of the late Sherman A. and Thelma Louise Murphy Ownbey.
As a young man, Frank served in the Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. He moved to Citrus County from St. Petersburg over 50 years ago and had a successful career as a tile and stone contractor. He loved hunting and fishing and was known as a great speaker with a wonderful sense of humor.
Frank became a member of the Floral City Masonic Lodge #133 where he served as Grand Master and many other offices, Floral City Order of the Eastern Star #164, and a Member of the Ocala Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. He served as the Right Worshipful District Deputy Grand Master for the 18th Masonic District in the Grand Lodge of Florida.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Frank M. Ownbey, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, and Sherman N. Ownbey of Inverness; his sister, Donna Fields; six grandsons, six great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol who died just 11 weeks ago; his brothers, Sherman, Robert, Howard, Richard, Buck and Bill; his sisters, Nola, Vivian, Margaret, Gail, and Peggy.
A Masonic Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 19th, 2:00 P.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Arrangements under the care of Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care.
