Special Agent James C. Bunch, United States Coast Guard, Ret. of Floral City, passed away in Inverness on Thursday, April 3, 2025. He was 86. Jim was born in Darlington, SC to Evans M. and Sally (Young) Bunch, one of four boys. He spent most of his adult life in the military. Jim spent two years in the South Carolina National Guard, beginning at the age of 16. He then decided to transfer his time and enlist in the United States Coast Guard at age 18, and spent the next 24 years in the service. He served five tours in Vietnam, on the USCGC Androscoggin ship 1967-1968. Jim also served at Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; San Juan, Puerto Rico; New York, New York; Naples, Italy; and Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He met and married his wife Doris in August 23, 1969 and they moved to Florida once he retired. Jim was a special agent during his career, and he received his Associate in Science Degree from the University of the State of New York relating to Intelligence and Law Enforcement duties. Jim was a kind, loving, and funny man, and will be missed by all who knew him. He was not only preceded in death by his wife Doris of 46 years in 2016, but also his three brothers Evans, Billy, and Bobby, who died at the age of 3. He leaves behind his dear friends Joey, Michele, and Lee, and many others. Friends may pay their respects at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 10-11am, after which a funeral procession will begin promptly at 11:30 to arrive at Florida National Cemetery for a committal service with full military honors at 12:30pm.

    It was a great pleasure to have known Mr Jim ! First time I met him he was on his bike on the trail. He was a very pleasant giving man!
