Walter (Red) Pechtel, age 88, of Homosassa, FL passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, while under Hospice care in Tampa General Hospital in Crystal River. Red was the beloved husband of Paula J. Pechtel. Red was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 12, 1936, son of the late Walter Charles and Gladys Pechtel. Red leaves behind not only his loving wife, but also his son Charles Pechtel (Kristie); his five stepchildren Barbara Timblin (Jim), Donna Dietmeyer (Bruce), Pam Notriano (Steve), Donald Adler, and Linda Stanek (Don); along with his 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren.
Red proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a dedicated veteran. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Paula, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time traveling the country in their motor home visiting with family and friends, and participating in their RV club rallies and events. He also loved golfing and hitting that little white ball around, and he was also an avid Florida Gators fan. Red loved his extended family like they were his own. We are so thankful for all the memories and love. Red’s family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 11:00am – 12:30pm at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home chapel. A funeral procession to Florida National Cemetery will leave promptly at 12:30, where a committal service will be held and full military honors will be rendered at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers Red’s family requests that memorial donations please be made to HPH Hospice of Citrus County https://www.chaptershealth.org/for-volunteers-donors/personal-giving/. Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
