John David Sergent, 91, of Citrus Springs, FL, passed away December 12, 2024 under the loving care of his family and Vitas Hospice. He was born in Hitchins, Kentucky to the late John E. and Edith (Crum) Sergent. John graduated from Hitchins High School in Hitchins, KY. He attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene College in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
John worked at Owens Illinois in Columbus, Ohio and ran the Sergent Home Maintenance for several years in Columbus, Ohio. He served in missions for the Nazarene Church on several projects in Haiti, Mexico, Trinidad/Tobago, and Belize. He came to Florida in 1994 from Grove City, Ohio. John was a member of the North Oak Baptist Church in Citrus Springs, FL. He loved fishing, gardening and cooking big dinners. He was an Ohio State football fan and Kentucky basketball fan.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 49 years, Doris Janice Sergent; his daughter, Victoria Natrop and husband Ron of Columbus, OH; sons: Marc Sergent of Grove City, OH, Ashley Sergent of Westerville, OH, Reid Sergent and wife Anita of Hernando, FL and Michael Thompson and wife Mindy of Rochester Hill, MI; his sisters in law: Luci Mount, Reba Burgess, and Estalee Booth; 8 grandchildren: Marc II, Kyle, Todd, Olivia, Lauren, Michaela, Mackenna and Mekenzie; Many nieces, nephews, and good friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister Ann Mullins.
The Funeral Service of Remembrance for John will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 12:00 PM from the North Oak Baptist Church in Citrus Springs, FL. The Rev. Dennis Jacobson will officiate. Friends may call at church from 11:00 AM until service time. John will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, WV
