Herman “Hank” Butler, Jr., 92, of Crystal River, FL passed away Monday May 13, 2024. He was born in Calhoun County, GA on February 21, 1932 to the late Herman and Mary Jewel (Dunn) Butler. Hank was a owner/manager for a mechanical consulting firm, and arrived in this area in 1994, coming from Bartow, FL. He was Methodist by faith and served our country honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard for 28 years (Lt. Col.), and the U.S. Navy for 4 years (Petty Officer 2nd class). He was past commander of the Korean War Veterans Association, chapter #192, Citrus County. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW); Florida National Guard Retiree Support Team; Bashi-ba-zouks member; and Vets in the Classroom. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Rita, flying on Space A all over the World. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Marguerite “Rita” Butler in 2020, one son, Kelly L. Butler; 2 brothers, Kenneth E. and Bobby B. Butler; 3 sisters, Mabel Bruner, Johnnie Pehrson, and Jeanine Shivers. Survivors include son Michael D. (Jan) Butler of Lakeland, FL; daughter: Nan Burton of Monticello, FL; daughter Michelle Diehl of Apollo Beach, FL; brother Ralph Butler of Dandridge, Tennessee; and sisters: Jeanette Douglas of Dothan, AL and Judy (Tom) Chyle of Lutz, FL; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Military honors for Hank will be rendered at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Monday, June 3, 10:00AM. Afterwards, his urn will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Rita. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home between 8:30AM and 9:00AM. The procession to the cemetery will depart at 9:15AM sharp.
