Gordon Wayne Craig, 92 of Hernando, passed away March 3, 2023 at his home under the loving care of his family and HPH Hospice. Gordon was born on September 15, 1930 in Pontiac, Illinois to the late Clifford C. and Elizabeth (Casson) Craig. He retired to Citrus County in 1993 after working for 40 years as an electrical foreman at Commonwealth Edison Power Company. He served his country in the US Navy from 1948 until 1952 aboard the USS Thomas E. Fraser. Gordon was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness, where he served as an usher. He also was a Life Member of Mazon Masonic Lodge No. 826 in Mazon, IL
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Leslie (Scott) Craig; his children: Charles C. Craig, Melvin, IL; Martha Pelka and husband Ron of Peru, IL; Mary Craig of Gibson City, IL; Joseph Craig of Oklahoma City, OK; Laura Anderson of Orlando, FL; 8 grandchildren: Connie, Daniel, Matthew, Craig, Jacqueline, Charles Jr, Rylee, and Taylor; 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ronald and Richard Craig.
Funeral services are scheduled from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11:30 AM with Rev. Dr. Dennis Bennett of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness officiating. Private burial with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00AM until service time. Masonic Services will begin at 11:00 AM.
