Doris Brown, 89, of Floral City, FL passed away December 4, 2018 at her residence in Floral City. She was born in Newark, NJ on April 15, 1929 to the late Earl and Edith Van Alstine. Doris was a homemaker, and arrived in this area in 2002, coming from Bricktown, NJ. She was known for her quite, gentle spirit to all. She was often heard to say “I am blessed”. Doris attended Calvary Church of Inverness, and her church was her passion. She was part of the intercessory prayer team at Calvary Church and was considered a “prayer warrior”. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence in 2013. Survivors include her children Nancy Anderson and her husband Michael of Homosassa, FL, Barbara Ann Dunigan and her husband Jim of Floral City, and Kenneth Brown and his wife Andrea of Bricktown, NJ, 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will be having a Celebration of Life Gathering at Calvary Church of Inverness on December 15th at 10 am. There will be a short reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Vitas Healthcare (hospice) in her name (3280 W Audubon Park Path Lecanto, FL 34461). Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
