John W. Tomes, age 89, of Inverness, FL passed away at Vitas Healthcare in Lecanto, FL on November 13, 2018. John was born in Fife Lake, MI to the late Thomas and Agnes (Minor) Tomes. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a Realtor. He made Florida his home in 1984 and relocated to Citrus County from Englewood, FL in 1996. John enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
Those left to mourn John’s passing include his wife of 70 years, Lavina Elfrieda Tomes; sons: Butch Tomes and John Tomes, JR; daughter, Susan Tomes; sister, Lillian Birgy; granddaughter, Angela Welden; and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to his parent’s, John was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Wheeler. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
