Francis X Mooney

Francis X. Mooney, 91, Inverness passed away August 19, 2016. Mr Mooney was born in Brooklyn, NY on Jan 15, 1925 to the late Francis and Grace (Taw) Mooney and moved here in 1978 from Sussex, NJ. Francis served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 788th Bombardment Squadron-467th Bombardment Group from April 21, 1943 until Feb. 19, 1946. He was a retired firefighter for the City of New York with 20 years of service and member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. After moving to Florida, he worked for the Postal Service.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Noreen O’Brien, Inverness, FL; his dear friend, Linda Rigdon, Hernando, FL; 3 sisters, Grace McLoughlin, Lutherville, MD; Geraldine Wyszynski, East Hanover, NJ; Joan Rafferty , Pine Valley, California; 1 grandaughter, Tara Jon Manning; 2 great grandchildren, Jack and Zane Manning; He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Agnes Mooney on April 12, 2009 and his brother, Thomas Mooney in 1987.
Friends may call at the Chas E Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Tim Cummings, celebrant. Military committal services will follow at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Uniformed Firefighters Association, C/O The UFA Widow and Children Fund, 204 East 23rd Street, New York, NY, 10010.
