RUBY IMOGENE CAVENDISH McCUTCHEON was born on September 4, 1932 in Swiss, WV to parents Burl S. and Julia Alice Acord Cavendish. Ruby married her sweetheart of nearly 64 years, Thomas Elbert McCutcheon on April 28, 1950, after which they were blessed with three children, Peggy Anne (Ronnie) Green, Pulaski, VA, Patsy Lynn Burgess, Homosassa, FL and Thomas E. (Kathy) McCutcheon, Salem, VA. Ruby had three brothers who preceded her in death, Freddie Lewis, Charles Clayton, and George Robert (Bob) Cavendish and two sisters, Ethel Cox Oliver, Summersville, WV and Shirley Johnson, Keslers Cross Lanes, WV. Ruby and Elbert were also blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to everyone she met. Elbert and Ruby lived and raised their three children in St. Petersburg, FL but had moved back to their home in Keslers Cross Lanes , WV. She continued to winter in FLorida and was enjoying the sunshine and the company of her family when she fell ill and was hospitalized at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness where she passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Ruby enjoyed many hobbies: sewing, quilting, cooking, reading, gardening and crossword puzzles but mainly enjoyed taking care of her family. Ruby was a member of Bethel Methodist Church of Poe, WV. Ruby is survived by her honey, Elbert, daughters Peggy and Patsy, son Tom, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held at Trinity Independent Baptist Church in Inverness on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM An additional graveside committal service was held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at North Royal Palm Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL with Pastor Jerry Bloxton officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Ruby\\\’s memory be made to your local Hospice. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL is in charge of arrangements.
