Townsend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jason Craig Townsend, 53, of Inverness, passed away after a long and<br \/>\ndifficult illness, on April 2, 2023, at his home. Mr. Townsend was born on<br \/>\nSeptember 7, 1969 in Groton, Connecticut, to Jack and Marlene (Olman)<br \/>\nTownsend. Jason was a Mental Health Care Assistant at Cherry Hospital in<br \/>\nGoldsboro, NC. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<br \/>\nin Lecanto, FL and was a devoted Christian.<br \/>\nJason was an easy going man with a quick smile and a gentle personality.<br \/>\nHe was always there to help a neighbor in any way he could. Jason&#8217;s<br \/>\ngreatest love was being of service to friends, neighbors, and even strangers.<br \/>\nHe tended to be a rescuer and quick to notice a person or animal in distress.<br \/>\nAt one time he seemingly had a house full of formerly abandoned or injured<br \/>\ndogs.<br \/>\nHis job at Cherry Hospital fit right in with his personality and he loved<br \/>\nworking there. Jason was an ardent Redskins Fan and affectionately known<br \/>\nas &#8220;Uncle Buck&#8221; to younger members of his family. He had a passion for<br \/>\ncooking, woodworking, and sharing the Restored Gospel alongside the<br \/>\nmissionaries from his Church.  Jason loved being out-of-doors.  His favorite<br \/>\nplace to be was on the water, and he loved camping and trail riding on his<br \/>\nbicycle with his faithful pup, Molly.<br \/>\nLeft to cherish his memory are: his wife of 18 years, Melissa Townsend of<br \/>\nMebane, NC; his parents Jack and Marlene Townsend of Inverness, FL; his<br \/>\nson, Christopher Jay Townsend of Clifton Forge, WV; his daughter, Alisha<br \/>\nMarie Conklin of Inverness, FL; his brother Mark S. Townsend of Pine<br \/>\nHurst, NC; his sister, Jeanette Lynn Davis of Wyoming, MN; step-son Mark<br \/>\nGreen of Wilmington NC; 3 step-daughters: Carol Green of Benson, NC,<br \/>\nMariah Green of Four Oaks , NC, and Charlotte Green of Four Oaks, NC; 5<br \/>\nstep grandchildren: Natalie, Kaylee, Todd, Avery, and Nyomi; a nephew,<br \/>\nBrenden Davis and 2 nieces: Kelsey Schatzel and Jennifer Townsend. He<br \/>\nwas preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melinda Rayne Conklin and a<br \/>\nstep granddaughter, Penelope.<br \/>\nThe Funeral Service of Remembrance is scheduled for Friday, April 14,<br \/>\n2023 at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in<br \/>\nLecanto, FL. Cremation will follow later under the direction of Chas.
