Desmarais"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Armand Joseph Desmarais, 89, of Inverness, Florida passed away from this life on October 10th, 2021 in the Vitas Hospice House, Lecanto, Florida. He was born to the late Joseph and Rosealma Desmarais on November 16th, 1931.<\/p>\n<p>He attended St. James High School in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Armand joined the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and served on the U.S.S. Wright (CVL-49). He was honorably discharged on November 16th, 1953 with the rank of Quartermaster Second Class. He was awarded several medals during his military service.<\/p>\n<p>He attended the State University of New York Agriculture and Technical Institute at Morrisville, and received his Major in Applied Science Food Technology. He also attended the University of Georgia and received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>Armand was employed by Hercules of Wilmington, Delaware and was in charge of setting up new project labs for the company. He was the leading chemist in the Water Soluble Polymer field and published articles used in college text books. When he retired from Hercules, he was employed by Chris Craft Chemical Division located in Indiana. He retired from this company and moved to Florida where he continued to consult for some time.<\/p>\n<p>On March 30th, 1962, he became an Associated Member of the Hercules Branch, of The Scientific Society of America. He was a member of ASTM and helped set the standards for the chemical industry.<br \/>\nArmand was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #4252 of Hernando, FL.<br \/>\nHe is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Cynthia Henderson of Wilmington, DE, Gayle Davis of Citrus Springs, FL, Joseph Desmarais of Wilmington, DE, and Cheryl Lee of Santa Ynez, CA; two sisters, Joan Kelley of Maynard, MA and Carolyn Radzwill of Haverhill, MA.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness, FL will begin on Saturday, October 16th, 2021 at 10 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 AM with Jim Rossman officiating. Full Military Honors will be rendered following the services by Hernando, FL VFW Post #4252. Armand will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery of Bushnell, FL at a later date. Cremation with Care is under the direction of Chas. E.
