Janet Merry Weiss, 65, resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana and former resident of Sumter County, FL, passed away at her home on May 9th, 2020 at 8:40 am. She was born to the late Kenneth and Venita Merry on June 11th, 1954 in St. Pete, FL.<\/p>\n
Janet worked as a Public Servant for many years, fulfilling her call to serve and help others as a Marion County Police Officer, Sumter County Fire Fighter, head of the Non-Emergency Transport of Sumter County, Founder of The Fire Explorers of Sumter County, and Lieutenant of Sumter County.<\/p>\n
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Venita Morris of Inverness, FL and her son, Christopher Weiss of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Devin, Bella, Charles, Kelbi, Serenity, Leigh, and a newly welcomed grandbaby, Faith.<\/p>\n
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 6, 2020 at 4 pm at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness, FL. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home starting at 3 pm, until the hour of service. The Honor Guard of Sumter County Fire Department will be rendering honors for Janet’s brave and honorable service to her community and country.<\/p>\n
