Townsley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carl Marker Townsley<br \/>\nOn the evening of February 15, 2015, Carl passed away peacefully of natural causes. Carl was being visited and comforted by family members at the HPH Hospice Care Center in Lecanto, FL.\u00a0 At the time of his passing, Carl was 85 years old.<br \/>\nCarl Townsley was born in Star City, Indiana on April 5, 1929.\u00a0 He was the first son of Ilo Ruth and Clare Beecher Townsley.\u00a0 In 1930, Carl\u2019s family moved to Columbus, Ohio, because of his father\u2019s job with the railroad.\u00a0 Carl was an outstanding athlete and graduate of Linden McKinley H.S.\u00a0 In 1947, Carl joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.\u00a0 In the same year, he married his high school sweetheart, \u201cTerry\u201d Betty Aldridge.\u00a0 They were happily married for 33 years, until her untimely death in 1979.\u00a0 In 1951, Carl joined the Columbus, Ohio Fire Department where he served as a firefighter and lieutenant, until 1984.<br \/>\nCarl was a very accomplished carpenter and builder.\u00a0 During his off-days from the Fire Department, he often volunteered his time to build or remodel the houses of his friends, family and fellow firefighters.\u00a0 During this time, he would often ask to simply be paid by their sharing a beer, as he chewed on his cigar.<br \/>\nCarl was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Terry.\u00a0 He is survived and will be missed by his loving family, sister, Gilda (Kenny) Geyer, children Tom Townsley, Diane (Paul) Davis, Carl (Sharon) Townsley, niece Judy Slack, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.\u00a0 Carl is also survived by his current wife, Dorothy.\u00a0 Special acknowledgements go to his close friends, Wally and Joyce Nichols.<br \/>\nThe Charles Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, Florida is in charge of arrangements.\u00a0 Not wishing a funeral service, Carl\u2019s remains will be interred at the Radnor, Ohio Cemetery, alongside his wife, Terry.\u00a0<br \/>\nIn lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the HPH Hospice Care Center, in Lecanto, Florida, who provided his final days with peace and comfort<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carl Marker Townsley On the evening of February 15, 2015, Carl passed away peacefully of natural causes.
