She was born on September 15, 1920 in Portland, Oregon to the late Elver and Hazel (Hetrick) Thompson. LaVerne was a homemaker and arrived in this area in 1985, coming from Bend, Oregon. She loved the outdoors, horseback riding, swimming, and spending time in the sunshine. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Glenn Payne. Survivors include two daughters, Christi D. Paynes and her husband, Gregory Darms, and Sherri S. Campbell and her husband Joseph; one brother, Tommy Thompson of Dunnellon, Florida; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Private arrangements are under the care of Chas. E.
