He was 59 years young. DJ was born in Waterbury, CT to Robert and Yvette (Duplessy) Johnston, one of their three boys. He proudly served in the US Army as a military police officer. While serving his country, he met his lovely wife, Mary Kinsey, as she was a combat medic. DJ and Mary eventually married, completed serving their time in the Army and also started a family of their own. He became a federal corrections officer, eventually landing in this area, finishing his career to retire and spend quality time with his family. DJ also enjoyed riding his Harley, hanging out with his friends, and was an avid bowler, as well as being a loving husband, dad, and PopPop. He will forever be loved and greatly missed. DJ was preceded in death by both of his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of nearly 40 years Mary Johnston of Inverness; his son DJ Johnston, Jr. of Kentucky; his daughters Crystal Johnston of Inverness and Jessica Gehringer (Jesse) of Brooksville; his two brothers Bobby Johnston of Homosassa and Scott Johnston of Mississippi; and his four grandbabies Jasmine Johnston, Drew Gehringer, Delias Green, and Davian Johnston. Funeral services for DJ will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 3:00pm in the Davis Funeral Home chapel, with Brother Chuck Fernandez from New Hope Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Brooksville presiding.
