Colin Earl

Colin George Earl, of Hernando, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was 88. Colin was born in Dagenham, England to George William and Mabel Laura (Stacey) Earl. He served two years in the British Pioneer Corps. On October 5, 1957, he married Doreen Alice James, with whom he shared 60 years of loving marriage. Colin and Doreen immigrated to the United States from England in 1968 and settled in Michigan. He worked for the Ford Motor Company for 41 years, starting as a diesel engine specialist and concluding his career as a safety engineer. They decided to head to a warmer climate and made Citrus County their home in 1998. Though he was good humored, and had a deep love of laughter and silliness, Colin was very much a man of principle who loved and cherished his wife and family. Colin loved playing soccer, tennis, and golf in his earlier years. He also loved being on the water, whether it was on a pontoon boat or kayaking. He loved his ice cream from Birds Underwater; and he always loved a good draft beer from the Seagrass Waterfront Restaurant/Pub. Colin was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 60 years Doreen in 2018, and his sister Thelma. Those left to cherish his memory are his son Stuart Earl (Tammie) of Brooksville; his daughter Tracie Bishop (Brian) of Maryland; and his grandchildren Colin Earl (Sarah) and Austin Earl and Jessica Bishop. A celebration of Colin’s life will be held on Sunday December 22, 2024 at 2:00 at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
