Larry Allen Steed Jr., age 53, of Homosassa, FL, died November 18, 2024 at HCA Citrus Hospital. A lifelong Floridian, Larry was born in Brooksville, FL, the son of Larry Allen and the late Renee J. (Schweigman) Steed. Larry was a graduate of Citrus High School. He went on to earn his Associate’s Degree and served honorably in the U.S. Army for 6 years.
He loved being a Park Manager for the State of Florida. During his 20-year career, Larry was admired for his leadership and unwavering passion for Florida’s State Parks. He managed both Manatee Springs State Park in Chiefland and Rainbow Springs State Park in Dunnellon. Larry got to come home in his most recent assignment as Park Manager of the Ellie Schiller Wildlife State Park in Homosassa Springs. That was the highlight of his career.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 20 years, Dora Steed; daughters, Leah Hill and Rachael Steed; father, Larry Steed; and his sister, Lana Schoenauer all of Homosassa.
A committal service will be held on Monday, November 25th, 10:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
