Deborah Laughlin

Deborah F. “Debbie” Laughlin, 63, formerly of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Life Care in Lecanto. Debbie was born in Montgomery County, PA and was the daughter of Francis V. Laughlin and Johanna (Davis) Roskow.

Debbie graduated from Springfield High School in PA in 1978. While in high school she started working for the Acme Supermarkets and also worked there as she attended Rutgers University in New Jersey working toward her associate degree. She frequently was a roving supervisor for Acme managing stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and once in California.

Debbie’s career with Acme Supermarkets was shortened by her cancer illness causing her to retire on disability, eventually moving from New Jersey to Jacksonville, FL. Within a few years, she made the move to Fernandina Beach, FL and made that her home.

Debbie loved food especially appetizers and was always willing to try a new variety. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving and her family will forever miss her at the family table. She loved traveling and organizing family reunions. She treasured all children, especially her nieces, nephews, great nephews, and doted on her friend’s child. She was a wonderful and loving aunt, always had a big smile and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Debbie was preceded in death by her dad Blair Martin Roskow in 2019. She is survived by her mom Johanna Loraine Roskow of Hernando; her sisters Theresa Mae Laughlin Engle (John) of Boyertown, PA, Loraine Margaret Laughlin of Jacksonville, FL and Christina Mary Laughlin of Hernando, FL; her nieces and nephews Valerie Engle Shaner (Matt), Christopher Engle, Tara Engle Ziegler (Dean), and Tyler Stewart Frye (Kelly); and her seven great nephews John, Mason, Carter, Ronnie, Braydyn, Aiden, and Adam.

Friends wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the cancer charity of their choosing. A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, 3075 S. Florida Avenue, Inverness, FL 34450.
