Karl Weissert

Karl William Weissert, 78, of Lecanto, FL, passed away on July 13, 2024. He was born in Bronx, NY on June 17, 1946 to the late Karl H. and Erna (Gauer) Weissert. Karl proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from ’64 – ‘67. Upon his return, he pursued a career with the NYC Dept. of Sanitation, rising to the position of Superintendent in the early 1990’s. His dedication led him to manage and participate in the cleanup efforts at Ground Zero in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks. Concurrently, Karl volunteered as an EMT with the Throggs Neck Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 13 years.
After retiring in 2003, Karl and his wife Pat relocated to Citrus County in 2006, where they cherished life together. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hernando. Karl was notably a brass musician, participating in numerous Drum and Bugle Corps such as The Florida Brass and The Nature Coast Community Band.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Pasqua (Manzella) “Pat” Weissert of Lecanto, FL; his children: Karl Weissert and wife Teresa, Marie Ciocoiu and husband Adrian, Jacalyn Guitard and husband Sean; grandchildren: Christopher Weissert and Sophia Ciocoiu.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 2-5 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness. A Church Service will be held on Monday, July 22nd at 11am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with The Rev. Dennis Koch officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 2pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida
