Joan Ruth (Freitag) Yerka, August 16, 1931 – May 9, 2024.
Joan Yerka, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2024 at the age of 92. Joan was born on August 16, 1931 in Camden, New Jersey to the late John and Sarah Armstrong. She was one of three sisters. She married the love of her life, Albert Freitag, in 1950 and had two sons. They settled in Turnersville, NJ. After the death of her first husband, she later married William Yerka. They moved to Floral City, Florida and made Singing Forest their home. Joan is preceded in death by her two husbands, her grandson, Jacob Freitag and great grandson, Justin Freitag, as well as her two sisters, Claire Michaels and Jacqueline Moore. She is survived by her two sons, Albert (Christine) Freitag and John (Barbara) Freitag. Her grandchildren: John Robert (Stephanie) Freitag, Chad Freitag, Mallory Freitag-Hejja(Gregory), and Ross Freitag, as well as several great grandchildren. She also leaves behing many cherished friends. Joan was outspoken, outrageous and never met a stranger. She will be deeply missed. Services for Joan will be in New Jersey, where she will be interred at the Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ, beside her husband, Albert. Local arrangements are under the care of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
