Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Linda Cignoni

It is with tremendous sadness that we share the passing of our beloved wife, mother, Memere, and friend Linda A. Cignoni on April 17, 2024 after a brief illness.
Linda was born in Methuen, MA to Maurice and Rita (Gilbert) Auger on August 15, 1941. She was 82 years old. She grew up in Lawrence, MA and attended St. Anne’s High School. She raised her children in Salem, NH and lived there for over 50 years. She was an active member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem, NH and most recently of St. Scholastica in Lecanto, Florida. She was a devoted mother and could often be seen (and heard) cheering on her children at various sporting events, supporting whatever interests they had and cheering for her beloved Boston Bruins.
She worked as an administrative assistant at Beaumont & Campbell Prof. Assn. where she proudly retired after over 20 years of service. Linda enjoyed an active retirement spent bowling in her weekly league, playing Bingo, taking up golf, volunteering at the Salem Ingram Senior Center, and serving as a co-chair on the Salem Council on Aging.
Linda found great happiness in the second half of her life when she met her husband and best “Pal” Richard (Dick) Cignoni. They enjoyed 32 years together during which they enjoyed traveling with friends, going to casinos, fishing in New York (where she caught the biggest fish), spending summers on Newfound Lake and most recently relocating together to Florida. She felt fortunate that she had made some wonderful new friends in the Citrus Hills Community. Linda also loved her new furry friend Bella; a great addition to her family.
Linda’s greatest happiness though was when she was spending time with her husband, children and eight grandchildren. She loved to cook meals for them, play games of “45’s”, watch them at their various sporting events and just enjoy everyone being together.
Those left to cherish Linda’s memory are her loving and devoted husband Dick Cignoni; her daughter Charlene Brenner and her husband Karl; her sons Richard Bernard and his wife Cherie and Andrew Cignoni and his wife Jennifer; her eight grandchildren Casey, Jamie, Devyn, Hayden, Tyler, Kayla, Haylee, and Josie; her lifelong and new friends; and her beloved fur baby “Bella.” She will be remembered for her quiet strength in the face of adversity and the unconditional love she gave to her friends and family. We will miss her every day.
The family would like to thank Clear Sky Rehabilitation Hospital and Vitas Hospice Center, both in Lecanto, Florida for their compassionate care during the last several weeks.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Salem Ingram Senior Center in Linda’s name ([email protected]).
Services will be announced at a later date.
