Nancy McCann

Nancy J. McCann (Nana), of Inverness, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 13, 2024. She was 90 years young. Nancy was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Carl and Elsa (Ungerer) Breining on August 18, 1933. She married Acel A. McCann on December 8th , 1956 and in the early 70s they moved to Dunedin, Florida. They had one Daughter Kathy Lynn (Wiggins) Palmer. Nancy spent her early working years as a switchboard operator at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Once she moved to Florida she worked as a purchasing agent for Pioneer Bank in Pinellas County till she retired. In 1991, they moved up to Inverness to be close to her grandchildren. She also worked for a few years at the Citrus County Red Cross. She loved her family and her neighbors in her neighborhood, and was very active in the First Lutheran Church in Inverness for many years. Nana enjoyed walking and despite being completely blind she continued to keep walking well into her 80s. Nana loved her dog Sophie and every other dog in her neighborhood! She loved to quilt, sew and was an avid painter in her spare time. Nana was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Acel McCann; her daughter Kathy Lynn Palmer; her parents Carl Ray and Elsa Breining; her brothers Carl, Robert, Richard, and Jim Breining; and her sisters Dorothy Stalker, Mary Freolich, and Sally Ashley. Those left to cherish her memory are her 99 year old sister Shirley Edwards and her doting grandchildren Kimberly Robbins (Daniel), Elizabeth King (William) and John Palmer; great-grandchildren Timothy Robbins, Ryan Robbins (Amanda), Joshua Robbins (Sailor), and Bayley Paige; five great-great-grandchildren and with another on the way; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Nancy will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11am from Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to service time. She will be laid to rest at a later date with her husband Ace in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to a local non-profit:
