Roger Allen Whitehead, age 83, Inverness, FL, passed away on March 5, 2024, at the Citrus Health & Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.
Roger was born in Newark, NJ on May 15, 1940, to the late Charles and Ellinor (Blackmon) Whitehead and came to this area in 1983 from St. Petersburg. He graduated from Northeast High School (Class of 1958) and served our country in the U.S. Army as a Medic. He worked for Florida Power and Light Company for over 30 years and also operated a carpet company in St. Petersburg. He and his wife were avid fishermen.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 42 years, Sarah (Spahr) Whitehead; son, Michael (Paula) Whitehead of Hiawassee, GA; and their children Zachary and Hannah; stepson, Andrew (Dianna) Francis of Easley, SC; and their children Justin Francis and Jessica Owen and their children River Hawk and Forrie Faye Owen; one brother, Lawrence (Georgia) Whitehead of Georgia. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Jessica Francis, on November 20, 2023, and his brother Charles Whitehead in 2010, and sister, Joan Cole in 2001
There will be a memorial service at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory.
