Wilbert R. (“Will”) Brown, of Inverness, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at his home under hospice care. He was 97. Will was born in New York City, and he went into the US Navy at the age of 17. He was a veteran of WWII. He owned and operated a well drilling business for many years in Fitzwilliam, NH. He lived in many places throughout New England, Ohio and Florida. He settled one last time here in FL about a year ago.
Will was never idle; he was an avid golfer, an artist (potter, painter, woodworker, wood carver), and sailor (he and Linda sailed around the Caribbean for about 15 years). He was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Brown; his son Robert Thompson Brown; and his brother Victor Andrew Brown. Those left to cherish Will’s memory are his daughters Rebecca Chamberlain or Inverness, Sally Brown of North Carolina, Victoria Goss of Ohio, Sandra Smith of Satsuma, FL, Wendy Blanchard of New Hampshire, and Susan McCleary of Rhode Island; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Words cannot express the depth of love that he and his dynamic wife Linda shared. She passed in 2011 and his heart forever longed for her. They are together again.
There will be a celebration of life planned at a later date. Those that would like to memorialize him in some small way may send donations to: Last Chance Corral, 5350 Old Rt 33, Athens OH 45701. Lastchancecorral.org. His daughter Victoria is the founder/pres, and Rebecca does the IT work. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
