William A Huffman

William Acton Huffman, Jr. (Bill), 85, of Inverness, passed away on December 19, 2023, at Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, Florida, due to complications from Dementia. William was born on September 6, 1938, in Lancaster, KY, to the late William A. Huffman, Sr. and Frances Duncan Huffman.

William served his Country in the US Air Force, retiring as a Staff Sergeant with 20 years of service in 1975. After retiring from the military, he worked in Alaska managing dining facilities on the North Slope. Bill enjoyed fishing, cooking, and grilling out with his family and friends at his home, relaxing by the pool or at his cabin in Ozello. He also loved going to the Freezer Tiki Bar in Homosassa to eat shrimp and also enjoyed sitting by his pool and watching re-runs of The Andy Griffith Show and various old Westerns on TV. Bill never had to be asked to help anyone; he
would show up and pitch in no matter the task. Bill always had a great work ethic and was very conscientious about any project he started, especially the many home repair and remodel projects he and his son did on their properties.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elsie (Phillips) Huffman; his son, William Acton Huffman III (Billy), and wife Mirabelle (Bill’s “Little Nurse”) who he adored, of Crystal River; his daughter, Barbara Dubay of New Hampshire; and two grandchildren, Clarissa and Jason; Stepdaughter, Laura Crane Bello, Stepson, Steven Crane; and grandchildren Charlotte and Michael, Lillie and Vianna. Bill also leaves behind half-brother Charles Wesley Huffman, half-sisters Jean and Vedra Huffman, and many nieces and nephews in Lancaster, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sons, David Huffman and Billy Joe Huffman, and stepson, Phillip Crane. Bill was also preceded in death by his loving sister Ann Earl Doolin, brother William Leslie Huffman, half-brothers James Lewis Huffman and Harold Huffman, and half-sisters Janice and Jannette Huffman.
Bill also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Lancaster, Ky., and special friends Harold Hicks of Inverness, FL., and Mike Huff of Palatka, FL.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 11 AM until 12:30 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness. The procession to Florida
