Patient, Gentle, and Giving. All things a great man should be and that he was.
Bently, was born in Sumter, South Carolina and passed in Lecanto, Florida. He was the middle son of three boys. He was an engineer at heart and loved anything machines, space, motorcycles, and movies. The Army was his life and family was his core.
Bently was an Army veteran who served his country proudly. He was an Honorable Discharge; he served from 1975 – 1992. He served in places such as: New Jersey / Seoul, Korea / Jacksonville, Florida / Nuremberg, Germany / and Fort Ord, California. His highest ranking was an E6, Staff Sergeant. His decorations/ medals / badges include: Army Service Ribbon / Army Lapel Button / Army Good Conduct Medal / Diver and Mechanic Badge / Army Achievement Medal / Overseas Service Ribbon / Army Commendation Medal / Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon / Sharpshooter Badge w/Rifle. After the service, he went on to serve in the National Guard and then the Reserves until he began civilian work at the “Nuclear Power Plant” in Crystal River, FL.
He is survived by his children: Linda Leath, Charles & Lynn Banfield, and Judie & Joe-Joe Panyko. He is survived by his five grandchildren: Jade, Joey, Nina, Maddie, and Milo. He is survived by his extended family / friends: Joe & Karin Panyko, Mariea Panyko, Jeremy Douglas, Sophiea, Maxwell, Jeremy II, Angela Panyko, Terrence Orr, Fallon, Taevon, Tylah, Kyrie, Tabias, Kaiden, Terrence, Vicky Courterier, Michael Linary, The Compostella’s, and Al & Denise Lowdenslager. He is survived by his brothers: Perry & Dale Banfield. He is joined in Heaven with his mother, Ann Blanchard, father, George Banfield, & his grand-daughter’s (Jade) fiancé, Nate Reynolds.
Services will be held at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.
