Marilyn J Bonner

Marilyn Jean Bonner, age 94, of Inverness passed away June 24, 2023 under the care of her family and hospice.

Marilyn was born in Barberton, Ohio on December 29, 1928 to the late Fred and Vera (Holderbaum) Cleary and moved to Inverness in 1977 from Stow, Ohio. She retired from Kent State University as an Assistant Administrator. After moving to Citrus County, she was employed at Citizen’s National Bank. Marilyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. She loved all of her pets (Pierre, Bones, Kitty and Benji) and called them her children. She enjoyed cooking and baking, reading, gardening and canning, crossword puzzles, and shopping with her girls. She learned to play the piano at age 80 and her favorite song to play was “Summertime”. She also enjoyed watching golf and college football. Go Gators!

Her memory lives on with: her daughter, Diana Davies (Ed) of Beverly Hills, Linda “Sis” (Leroy) Meahl of Inverness, Ron (Linda) Bonner of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren: Kari (David) Jandran and Alexis (Nick) Scala; two great grandchildren: Sydney and Luca. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and their families. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Mader, husband, H.C. “Vince” Bonner, son-in-law Roland “Red” Davies; two brothers, Bob and Kenny Cleary, and her sister, Shirley Long.

There is a Memorial Service scheduled for Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:30 AM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with The Rev. Mark Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Florida National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
