Joan A. Schiller, 91 formerly of Inverness, passed away at the Bridgewood Center in Ormond Beach, FL. Joan was born on June 21, 1931 in Flushing, NY to the late Gustav and Bella (Grocoff) Schiller. She retired as a Sgt. First Class from the US Army after 27 years of service. During her time in the service she loved, she traveled the world on behalf of her military duty. Joan retired to Citrus County in 1991 from West Point, NY.
She is survived by nieces and nephews including Leslie and Tony Catanzaro who were her caregiver for many years. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brothers and sister and best friend Betty Ann Clark.
Memorial services for Joan will be conducted on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL, with Fr. Mike Suszynski , officiating. Graveside committal services will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, with full military honors provided by VFW Post #4337. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until service time.
