John Joseph “Jack” Lyons, Jr., age 86, Hernando, FL passed away November 15, 2022 in Bravera Health Seven Rivers Hospital.
Jack was born in Albany, NY on December 24, 1935 to the late John J. Lyons and Marie (Fisher) Lyons and came to Florida 22 years ago from East Greenbush, NY. Prior to retirement, he was the Chief Executive Officer for the Watervliet Arsenal Federal Credit Union. He was Catholic by faith and attended St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto.
Jack was an avid Yankee, Notre Dame, Giants, and Knicks fan who also enjoyed playing sports throughout his life. He loved boating on the Hudson River with friends and cruising around the world. He had always loved reading, particularly history. Jack loved connecting with people and never met a stranger. Most of all, he loved his family, immediate and extended. Jack was so grateful for the blessings God bestowed upon him and hoped in return, he gave back to those in need. But perhaps, most of important…he kept the faith.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Rosemarie (Constant) Lyons; 3 children: Paul Richard (Tora) Lyons, East Greenbush, NY; John Joseph (Patrice) Lyons, Valatie, NY; Patricia Ann (Steven) Burdgick, Guilderland, NY; 1 brother, Paul Lyons, Glenmont, NY; 2 grandchildren: John Joseph Lyons and Ava Gamello.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Cotrofeld.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM, at St. Scholastica Catholic Church, with Fr. James Johnson, Celebrant. Burial will follow at a later date in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Monday afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
