Susan Jeanette Dupler, 82, of Lecanto, FL passed away, peacefully on November 5, 2022 at Diamond Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. Susan was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 30, 1940 to the late Robert Megowan, MD and Elizabeth (MacDonald) Megowan and relocated to Florida from New Jersey. She was their only child.
Susan was a full-time mom to her three children. Her biggest joy in life was being a wife and having a big family. She was more than happy to be a mom, not only to her own children but as some would say the “Kool Aid” mom to the other children in the neighborhood. She loved to travel to see family and looked forward to birthdays, holidays and anniversaries. If a celebration was in order, Susan was there to give her love & support. Susan also loved being outside, especially near the ocean where she enjoyed many sun-kissed moments throughout her youth. Long walks along the shore with her dear father, and memories made with her cousins at the beach always warmed Susan’s heart. She loved watching her grandchildren play in sporting events or perform in shows. Grandma Susan was the Grandma of ALL trades. She loved to write and share recipes, scrapbook, and read to her grandchildren. She was also known for coloring her own “Incredible” greeting cards and mailing them to her family and friends. During the holidays, you could always find her in the kitchen. It was a guarantee to find breads and sweets on her kitchen table as she always made sure there was plenty to go around. Mickey Mouse waffles – “So Neat!”- a favorite family breakfast, and let’s not forget her homemade Chocolate chip cookies! They were her holiday tradition and she always made sure that each and every family member went home with a full tin and a full heart.
Susan was the strongest woman we have ever known. Family was everything to her and she engrained that into all of her children and grandchildren. She was the matriarch of our family who kept everything in check for over 60 years. Susan made sure that everyone in her family felt loved and cared for. Susan’s outlook on life, strength, independence and witty humor truly made her one of a kind. If you were lucky enough to know her, you were a part of her daily coffee get together which was her way of feeding our soul and warming our hearts. When she was physically able, she donated her time to the Key Training Center, Goodwill and The Vitas Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, on January 24, 1995. She is survived by her three children: Wayne and his wife Susan Marie, Robert and his wife Rose Marie, and Nancy Elizabeth Booth and her husband Michael. Susan will also be missed by all of her grandchildren: Nicole (John) Middlebrook and Andrew (Wayne & Susan’s children); Brittany Bass, Summer (Nick) Viola, Connor (Loren) Dupler, Tiffany Bass, and Madison Dupler-Fox (Robert & Rose’s children); and Carley, Ryan, & Tyler Booth (Michael & Nancy’s children). She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Braylen, Sonny, Keagan, Yulianna and Karston, and MANY “grand fur babies.”
