Joanna Rose Ford, 57, of Hernando, FL passed away May 21st, 2022 under the care of Vitas Hospice. Rose was born July 6th, 1964 to James and Patricia (Solometo) Tucker in Queens, New York. She spent her early years growing up in Pennsylvania and later in Northern Virginia.
Rose graduated from Chantilly High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from George Mason University. While working as a real estate agent, she met her future husband, William (Bill) Ford. They were married at Browns Chapel Church in Reston, Virginia on February 22nd, 2003. They made their home in Reston where Rose continued to work as a realtor but also pursued her love of yoga and earned her yoga teaching certification. She began teaching yoga at the YMCA and continued until they retired and moved to Florida in 2011. Rose continued teaching yoga on a part-time basis in Florida.
Rose loved all animals – especially cats and dogs – and was always ready to help one out. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and was so happy that she was able to attract so many beautiful birds, butterflies, and honey bees to her garden. Rose loved the outdoors and was happiest when exploring a nature preserve, hiking in a park, or walking on the beach. Rose was always ready to pack some snacks, sunscreen, and sun glasses and head out on a day trip to a park or the beach.
Rose was a person of great faith and faced her illness in her own quiet way and passed away in the early morning hours of May 21st. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bill; stepdaughters, Katina (Brad) Niell and Nicole (Brian) Rowan; mother, Patricia Casabona; stepmother, Caroline Tucker; aunt, Barbara Solometo; uncles, John Tucker and John Solometo; stepsiblings, Susan Casabona (Philip Sherburne), Elizabeth (Tom) Cronauer, Charlie (Brenda) Casabona and Helen Casabona (John Anderson); sisters-in-law, Pat (Ed) Pelot, Susan Ford, Lori (Mike) Seager, and Julie (Loren) Rozell; and brother-in-law, Bob (Cindy) Ford.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Tucker; stepfather, Albert Casabona; brother, James Tucker Jr.; brothers-in-law, Tom Jenson and Ken Brendle; uncles, David, Robert, and Paul Tucker, and Joe Solometo.
Rose was laid to rest in the Florida National Cemetery Bushnell, Florida on May 26th, 2022.
