Salvatore A.Mondello, 85, of Inverness, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022, under the care of his loving family and Vitas Hospice. Salvatore was born in Manhattan, NY on February 19, 1937, to the late Alfred and Benedetta (Lanuto) Mondello. He served his country in the US Air Force and later settled in Massachusetts, working as a printer and later at Polaroid as a chemical technician during the development of the instant camera.
Salvatore was a true renaissance man with a love of history, literature, and learning. There wasn’t a subject he couldn’t talk about in conversation. He loved trivia, dancing, and had hoped to finish writing the book he’d been working on for many years. He loved being with people, had a love of cooking and entertaining, and was active his entire life either running, or playing softball as a senior. He moved to Florida twenty years ago with his late wife, Toni Mondello.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 7 years, Henrietta Mondello; his 5 children who he shared with his first wife Marie Mondello: Maria Bernard of Brimfield, MA, Christina Mondello Chapman and her husband Gene, of North Stonington, CT, Lisa Naujoks and her husband Thomas, of Brimfield, MA, Linda Medeiros and her husband Michael, of Rochester, MA, and Salvatore Mondello and his partner Kelley of Berkeley, MA; his stepchildren: Alison Pierce and her husband Shawn of Richmond, ME, Andrew Severy and his wife Christina of Litchfield, ME, and Eric Severy and his wife Victoria of Richmond, ME; his sister Marie Boyer of Sacramento, his brother Alfred Mondello of Kentucky, his 12 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
