Our family mourns the loss of Milton Frost Kelly, who passed away on July 5, 2022 at the age of 83.
Born in Cotton Plant, Florida to Marion and Julian Kelly, Milton graduated from Citrus High School in 1957, where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Florida State University. Milton coached and taught at Augusta Raa Junior High School in Tallahassee and Eustis High School in Eustis. He was principal at Live Oak Elementary, Inverness Middle School and Citrus High School. Milton retired from the Citrus County Public School System as Director of General Services.
Milton was a member of First Baptist Church, Inverness. He was a 15-year volunteer with the Citrus Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening.
Milton is survived by his son Charles (Clare); daughter Janice; grandchildren Harlan, Bailey and Hayden; two brothers, Pete Kelly (Delores) and Don Kelly (Cheryl); two sisters, Nancy Houle (Jack) and Pat Archer; sister-in-law Nell Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sara; parents; brothers Richard and John; and sister Sylvia.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 4:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness with Casey Kearse, officiating. Interment will follow later. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the hour of service.
The family expresses a special thank you to lifelong friends Casey and Faye Kearse for their invaluable help during Milton’s illness.
