Nicholas John Neven, Jr., age 63, Dunnellon, FL passed away at home on May 26, 2022. He was born in Chicago, IL on September 29, 1958 to the late Nicholas John Neven, Sr and Joan (Pobanz) Neven and came to this area in 2014 from Maryland.
He joined the United States Navy in 1976 as a Seabee where he met his wife, Gay Marilyn Neven and served until 1982. He re-entered the Navy in 1983 and served as Logistics Supervisor in the Navy. CPO Neven retired as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7) with 23 years of service in the year 2000.
He is survived by two sons: Nicholas John Neven III of Elmendorf, TX and Jake Anthony Neven of Catonsville, MD; 2 brothers: James Douglas Raley and Dale Allen Neven; 5 grandchildren: Jake Jr., Harper, Kenneth, Becca, and Cooper: his partner, Susan Panicola: his nephews Mark, Jamison, and Matthew: his daughter in law Ashley. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his son, Clinton, and his brother Mark.
Nick enjoyed bowling, fishing, and iceskating with his children, riding his motorcycle, golfing with his buddies and his nephew, wine tasting with his late wife, spending time with his brothers and grandchildren who loved him, and a good whiskey with his partner Sue to close out the nights.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be rendered at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Friday, June 10th at 2:00 PM with the V.F.W. Post No. 4337 in charge. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Friday at 1:00 PM. Procession will depart for cemetery at 1:15 PM. Rest In peace dad, chief, Nick.
