Marcile Edith Like -November 29,1930 – May 17, 2022
On Tuesday, May 17, 2022 our beloved mother, Marcile Edith Like passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ under the loving care of her daughter and Vitis Hospice Center.
Marcile is survived by sons David Like (Kim Gravlin) of Bradenton Florida & Robert Like of Marquette Michigan , daughter Sally Like (Norman Maes) of Homosassa Florida and her faithful Pomeranian Skipper. Predeceased by husband Richard and sister Phylis McQuillin.
Born Nov 29,1930 and raised in Fulton County Ohio, Marcile set out for Chicago at age 17 in 1948 where she worked at the American Medical Association while taking dress design classes at the Art Institute of Chicago and attended Moody Bible Church. She continued to serve our Lord in the music ministry as organist for 40 years at First Baptist Church in Richmond and Grace Baptist in Citrus Springs Florida.
Marcile and Richard Like married May 16,1953 at the Chapel in the garden, Angola Indiana. Settling in Richmond Michigan the power couple both ambitious and determined to achieve the American dream. Together they opened the Dairy Queen franchised in Richmond, founded Marcile’s Fashions (1960-2019) and with partners established American Energy Services.
Marcile also reveled in the role of tour hostess, arranging trips to the Holy Land in the 1980’s and retreats to Word of Life Bible Camps. She was so enthusiastic of her faith in Jesus and shared her love of Christ with all who knew her.
This is the story of our mother whose love shone upon all of our lives. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be arranged at a later date at Grace Bible Church in Citrus Springs, FL. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, MI. Cremation was entrusted to Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory, Inverness, Florida. Kindly direct donations of remembrance to your local Hospice organization.
