Betty A Woolverton, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 6:25 a.m.
Betty was born in Warren, MI on April 16, 1934, to the late Frank and Francis (Siekerk) Buckley. She was the ninth of sixteen siblings!
Betty married the love of her life, Joseph Wenta on June 29, 1957 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Wilmot, MI. They resided on the beautiful family farm in Deford, Mi where they raised their two children. They were married for 35 years. Joe passed in 1992.
On October 8, 1994, Betty married Craig Woolverton. They moved to Inverness, FL in 1997 and were married for 21 years. He passed in 2015.
Betty started working at age 15 at a five and dime store after both her parents died and she had to quit school and go to work. She continued to work in the grocery store business and retired from Kroger’s at age 62.
Betty loved staying active and busy. She enjoyed crafting, cooking, socializing, crocheting, jewelry making, volunteering at the local hospice center, and helping others whenever she had a chance. Betty also loved children and was a nanny to the Javier family, the Huecker family, and several others. She was also a member of Redemption Christian Church in Inverness, FL.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Joseph H. Wenta, and his wife Vicki of Deford, MI and Elizabeth A. Wenta and her husband Bill of Orlando, FL; three brothers: Jerry (Sally), Ron, and Henry Buckley and her sister, Shirley Rahn; one grandson, Jordan Wenta and two stepdaughters, Cindy (Wayne) Moore and Gail Woolverton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
There is a Celebration of Life scheduled for Friday, April 15th at 3:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness with the Rev. Todd Langdon, pastor of the Redemption Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in St. Michael’s Church Cemetery in Wilmot, MI. Visitation with family and friends will be at 2:00 PM until the hour of service.
