James Henry Hamilton, Jr (Uncle Junior), age 95 of Floral City, FL gained his wings on February
25th, 2022. Preceded in death by his parents, James Henry Hamilton, Sr and Viola Florence
Johnson.
He is survived by a large loving family of nieces and nephews here in FL and in Thomasville, GA. James was born in Thomasville, GA on April 19, 1926. James lived most of his life in the Plant City area of FL.
James was an avid sports fan. He loved any & all sports; he even coached the Turkey Creek Trojans Football team as well as coaching the Plant City Little League Baseball. He purchased a brand new 1956 Chevy, then handed the keys over to his nephew (Gorman) to go to his high school graduation parties. He did what he could to help family.
James also loved to read. At the time of his death, he had over 200 books. Some books, he had read twice! He was a proud owner of a Floral City Library Card. At 95, he could read a book in no time.
At age 18, James enlisted into the United States Coast Guard. Upon his discharge as a 1st Class Seaman, his hearing was never the same.
James retired from Plant City Cold Storage aka Southland Frozen Foods. In 2008-09, James moved to Floral City to be closer to his loving family. He loved his little apartment and was always so appreciative of
it. James attended the Floral City Church of Christ while he was still driving. James was always so happy and positive. He loved to say, “I Love You”. When he said “Thank You” he meant it. At birthday and Christmas time, upon opening a gift, you’d think it was a million dollars the way he’d lite up and smile. James loved his sweets too! But at 95, his health started dwindling fast. He started falling, which brought us to this sad time.
It’s hard to say Good-Bye to 95 years. At James request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Private arrangements will be made with Chas. E Davis Funeral Home With Crematory and the family will hold a private Celebration of Life at the home of his nephew, Gorman Gene, Sr and Joyce Hamilton in Weirsdale, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, send/donate to your local Meals on Wheels Program.
